Tribute For My Father
Today is Father's day. It is a very special day for all of us. Especially those who have awesome dads. A few days ago, a beloved father, and newscaster (Tim Russert) passed away. He was 58 years old. He left behind a wife, a son (18 years old) and his own dad. Everyone in the media was deeply saddened at this news. Not too long ago, Tim had written a moving book giving tribute to his own dad. Apparently, this book was filled with love for his dad, and all the accolades due him.
None of us knows how much time we have on this earth. We should none of us ever take anything for granted. Since my back surgery, and subsequent losses, I don't take things for granted anymore. Not things, abilities, or people. I cherish all of the things in my life that I do have. All of my abilities, and more importantly, all of the people I have in my life. I cherish my family. Each and every one. They are wonderful gifts from God.
If there was an outline for being a great dad.. Dad, it would be very much like the outline of your life. From the beginning, you are the most kind, wise, generous, and patient man I have ever known. Your optimism and zest for life is inspiring. The fun we have always had growing up, I could never forget. You have been a soldier, a teacher, a lifeguard, and a myriad of other wonderful things too. Your life experiences could fill a whole biography book. I'm so proud of you and all of your accomplishments.
A dad should be the "Prince Charming" in every little girl's life. I am blessed.. because, I got the Prince!
On this Father's Day, I just want you to know how much I appreciate and love you. I love you with all my heart.. now and always.
Your Daughter,
Linda
